Erweiterter Temperaturbereich
Die Halbleiter-Bauelemente (z. B. Dioden, Transistoren, Integrierte Schaltkreise) dürfen während des Betriebs im Bereich einer Umgebungstemperatur des jeweiligen Bereichs dauerhaft betrieben werden, sofern sie der Hersteller dafür freigegeben hat. Ein Überschreiten der maximalen Betriebstemperatur kann zur thermischen Zerstörung von Halbleiterbauelementen führen.
Vom erweiterten Temperaturbereich spricht man in der Industrie bei einer Betriebstemperatur von unter -20°C bis über +70°C. z.B. im Außenbereich oder bei extremer Hitze bzw. Kälte-Einwirkung im der Fertigung. Ein Gerät mit erweitertem Temperaturbereich liegt preislich höher, insbesondere wegen der teureren elektronischen Komponenten, die für die extremen Temperaturen zugelassen sein müssen.
Zu beachten ist, ob die maximale Leistung der Geräte bei Extremtemperaturen zur Verfügung steht oder heruntergeregelt wird.
