The VME-6700 is a member of GE Intelligent Platforms next generation multifunction Input / Output boards for the VME. A high density, versatile design of the product provides 12 channels of 32 bit counter as well as 16 digital inputs and outputs, all in a single 6U double Euro form factor. In addition to providing different types of inputs and outputs VME 6700 extends, an incredible flexibility of use, by facilitating the configuration of individual I/O/Counter from the VME host.
The Intelligent Counter/Controller (ICC) block consists of twelve high speed 32-bit programmable counters. Each counter has a clock, gate, reset input and output. Any counter at any input can be programmed to accept or deliver signal to any external I/O.
VME-6700 also has an internal timer to generate program interrupts. All the field inputs are capable of accepting RS-485 422/TTL signals up to 12 MHz with programmable onboard 120 Ohm termination resistor. All these counters are controlled by an onboard DSP which allows user to configure the ICC and provide a real time data presentation in integer/ floating point numbers represented in scientific units.
VME-6700 supports an intelligent VME interrupt module which can assert up to seven interrupts at a time and can manage a queue of thirteen interrupts per IRQ when serviced, the interrupt module responds with a 8-Bit interrupt vector and automatically clears related IRQs.
Digital inputs can be configured to use selectable threshold voltage while digital outputs can be configured as either current source or current sink type.
All of the features of the board are programmable by the user.
