The Promentum™ ATCA-7200 is an AdvancedTCA Gigabit Ethernet (GE) line card compliant with PICMG 3.1 Option1 and Option 9 interface specification. Its modular design is based on an Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) carrier module (ATCA-1200) loaded with up to 4 of the AMC-7211 quad GE AMCs. It is a fully integrated Gigabit Ethernet line card – hardware and software. The hardware includes base board, AMCs and optional RTM and the software includes operating System, blade management and optional data path software. It offers a carrier grade line card for use in multitude of network elements such as Media Gateway, RNC, Security/Network Gateway, Edge Routers, Session Border Controllers, Intrusion Detection Systems, QoS/Policy Management servers, and more.

The Gigabit Ethernet line card offers the maximum density of Gigabit line interfaces while offering full wire-speed processing of L2-L7 processing of IP traffic. It is based on ATCA-1200, a very flexible yet powerful intelligent AMC carrier module with an on-board management processor. The management processor serves the task of blade management functions such health monitoring, configuration management as well as system management communication services. The on-board switch on the carrier module enables data path flexibility for traffic. The switch enables the AMCs to share the data amongst themselves or send the traffic straight to the back plane through the 10 Gigabit Ethernet (Option 9) fabric interface or 1 Gigabit Ethernet Interface (Option 1). The PCI Express switch and connectivity of the carrier module also enables the flexibility of either operating the AMCs in an independent “intelligent” fashion or under the control of the management processor. The optional rear-transition module when coupled with the rear I/O build version of AMC-7211 allows the line card to have I/O via rear SFP ports The line card uses AMC-7211 Gigabit Ethernet AMC for its line interfaces.
