AdvancedTCA PowerPC Asymmetric Multi-Processing Line card

The RadiSys ATCA-7800 AMC is a complete hardware and software line card solution consisting of the ATCA-1200 AMC carrier card, the AMC-8201 or AMC-8202 Single Mid-Size AMC (ECN002 pending) with state of the art dual core MPC8641D PowerPC, and APIs for application image management and onboard carrier data path and redundancy management. Populated with the AMC-8201, that sports an encryption chip, the board is ideal for terminating a secure IP link to the network, to perform basic packet data inter-working and pass on the data to an adjacent AMC on the carrier, such as a DSP for further processing, or pass it on to another blade in the shelf via the back plane fabric.

When populated with the AMC-8202, which sports a SAS port instead of the encryption chip, the ATCA-7800 becomes an ideal platform to run a communication, client or control application with mass-storage access in the form of a hot-swappable AMC hard disk, the AMC-3201, in an adjacent AMC slot on the carrier.

The ATCA 1200 carrier board can be configured to support 4 x Single Mid-Size AMCs or 2 x Double Mid-Size AMCs, or a combination thereof. The ATCA-7800 includes software to provision, manage the applications running on the AMCs, and manage data on I/O AMCs.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The ATCA-7800 comes populated with one AMC-8201 or AMC-8202. It can also be integrated with other AMC cards, such as; Security (IPSec/SSL), Storage, I/O, E1/T1 and other AMCs, as well as an additional AMC-8201 or AMC-8202 cards. The modularity enables application specific solutions, such as, a mini-VoIP gateway, Gateway controller, or small application server within an ATCA shelf.

Software
ATCA-7800 comes complete with API’s running on the carrier board’s Local Management Processor (LMP) to provision the AMCs and manage data paths.

Provisioning APIs enables a System Manager to remotely load, start or stop, or update an application running on the AMCs . Data control path APIs manage the PCI-Express™ switch and GE switch to enables AMC to AMC communication across the PCI-E and route, IP data flows across AMCs or to the ATCA base or fabric respectively.
