The RadiSys Promentum® WiMAX Baseband Card delivers a comprehensive range of features, all of which make it the solution of choice for manufacturers looking to create WiMAX solutions that can be deployed, operated, and upgraded cost effectively. Manufacturers can utilize this standards-based off-the-shelf building block to improve time to market and benefit from economies of scale

    Features
    • WiMAX architecture: Compliance with the WIMAX Forum's standard profiles for the IEEE 802.16 architecture ensures interoperability with WiMAX client devices, including those based on the Intel® PRO/Wireless 5116 broadband interface.
    • Open Base Station Architecture Initiative* (OBSAI*)-compliant interfaces: Open base station design allows solution developers to concentrate efforts on system-level innovations.
    • Upgradeable: Software-based MAC and PHY implementations enable smoother upgrades to IEEE 802.16-2005 and future standards while preserving capital investment.
    • Scalable Base Station Configurations: An encapsulated MAC and PHY solution allows manufacturers to create base stations with a small footprint and have flexibility to expand the solution as requirements grow.
    • The RadiSys WiMAX BasebandCard can be plugged into a MicroTCA* backplane or used in AdvancedTCA* systems to create micro, macro and pico base stations solutions.
    • CapEx/OpEx savings: The compact form factor is well suited for space-constrained environments and the low-power profile enables utility cost savings. Optical radio connections facilitate tower-mounted radio heads and/or base station hotelling deployment scenarios.
    • Carrier class: The WiMAX Baseband Card is designed to meet the most demanding requirements of large service providers with high throughput and availability, serviceability, component redundancy, and flexible management.
    • Flexible management system: Management functions encapsulated in a functional API allow the rapid integration into any network management system. Remote software upgrades and Intelligent Platform
    • Management Interface (IPMI) are included.
    • Frequency agnostic: Employing Digital I/Q sampling between the WiMAX Baseband Card and the radio equipment allows support for any spectral frequency, with modifications to only the radio equipment.
    • AdvancedMC-compliant: AdvancedMC is an open mezzanine card standard that enables choice of chassis, control, backhaul, and radio frequency products from third-party suppliers to accelerate time to market. It is compatible with the AdvancedTCA architecture and can also plug into MicroTCA backplanes for space-constrained deployments.
    • Connection Reliability: Low latency coupled with dynamic Quality of Service (QoS) settings ensures reliable delivery of mission-critical services such as voice, video and data traffic.
    • Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) coverage: Advanced OrthogonalFrequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation with dynamic modulation selections ensures the highest performance in NLOS conditions.
    • Intel® IXP2350 network processor: Demanding data plane requirements are met with this powerful, integrated control plane processor in a single chip. The high-speed core (up to 900 MHz) incorporates advanced I/O and memory features.
