The ECAN527HR modules provide direct interface between PC/104 and CAN bus. Intel-compatible Bosch 82527 controller chips support standard and extended messages frames, as specified by CAN specification 2.0 part B. The board can transmit, receive, and perform message filtering, transmit searching, and interrupt searching with minimum cpuModule™ intervention. System parameters may be stored in the on-board 256 byte EEPROM. The board is mapped into low memory of the host cpuModule™ and can use either XT or AT interrupts on the PC/104 bus. RTD provides drivers, example programs and diagnostics software for DOS , Windows, and Linux to decrease the time required for system development.
On all ECAN527HR modules, the CAN bus is galvanically isolated from the PC/104 bus and protected by choke filters to prevent electromagnetic interference. The ECAN527HR-1 offers an isolated twisted-pair interface, while the ECAN527HR-2 offers a fiber optic interface for direct connection to low-cost fiber cables.
For dual CAN bus applications, the ECAN527DHR offers dual Intel 82527 controllers, each with an isolated twisted-pair CAN bus interface.
